Savannah Trip

Hi peeps – my apologies for being awol for so long. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the Sephora Friends and Family 20% off code (FF2007 in case you don’t have it).

I went to Savannah last weekend for my friend Christina’s wedding, where I did her makeup (as well as the makeup of two of her bridesmaids). She got lots of compliments on her makeup, and I was thrilled to do it. I will put up a post soon with the exact color combinations, but in the meantime I just had to rave about Savannah.

Aside from the lovely walkable downtown, yummy Paula Deen restaurant (which did live up to the hype) and beautiful surroundings, Savannah has indie beauty stores galore. And they are so pretty. And filled with pretty yummy scents. *gulp* Fortunately the damage was not too bad.

The first store I got to visit was Scented by Nature European Perfumery, located at 33 Jefferson Place, at the City Market (according to the website there are other locations). Had I done my research ahead of time, I would have known about Scented by Nature. As the case was, my husband discovered Scented by Nature while browsing online, and was very sweet to take me there soon after arrival in Savannah. It was a lovely surprise, especially when combined with dinner at Garibaldi’s which is really really good. Be sure to order something with their signature apricot sauce, and you must try the wine poached pear salad with goat cheese.

Anyways, I digress. The Scented by Nature staff was very friendly and helpful

Their house line, which I will focus on, has some truly lovely scents, and the 2oz edt at $25 is an excellent price. I picked up the edt in Savannah Peach, one of their signature scents. Savannah Peach is a mix of peach and a slight citrus note, which makes it probably the best peach scent I have ever sniffed. I generally don’t like peach scents because they often have a, to put it politely, putrid note. Sadly, my body chemistry generally takes that note into rotten-fruit territory. Not so with Scents of Nature’s Savannah Peach. It stays fresh and peachy on me. I have been layering it with creamy vanilla scents to get more of a peaches and cream effect, and I am really enjoying the scent.

Scented by Nature also carries a Savannah Peach candle, which I picked up as a lovely reminder of our vacation. Furthermore, there are several other signature scents, most of which are florals. One of those signature scents is Savannah Rain, which has a strong magnolia note.

Picking up on my discussion of dupes, I would be remiss not to mention Scents of Nature’s large selection of dupes, referred to as Reformulated Scents. Ranging from Boucheron to Fresh, via Tiffany, these dupes are all strong and fairly true. The Fresh Sugar dupe is just a tiny bit more caramelly than the original, but that is fine with me, since I tend to layer my Fresh Sugar with vanillas to bring out the sweetness in the scent. I picked up a bottle of the edt in the Fresh Sugar Reformulated Scent.
