I discovered Mad City Sue about the time I started getting into etsy. MSC scrubs are now paraben free, which is always exciting for me!!
MSC is known for her Creamy Whipped Sugar Body Scrub, and I can see why. This is a nice, thick, very moisturizing (but not OTT oily) scrub. It reminds me of Skindecent’s Sheen Appeal as it gives my skin a nice glossy sheen post-shower. Scent-wise, I have loved all the scents I tried, but Fresh Marsmallow really won. It is a lovely light marshmallow. Italian Cream Cake is very nice as well, especially since the cake note does not get chemical on my skin (one of the hallmarks of my body chemistry), as is Vanilla Sky, which is a light, not too sweet vanilla.
I also tried MSC’s Scrubbing Bubbles Foaming Sugar Scrub — it’s hard to find a foaming scrub that is SLS-free and paraben-free, so I was excited to try this. I like it — it’s not quite as scrubby as Cleanse Your Soul’s version, but it’s very good, especially considering it’s SLS-free and paraben-free. I tried it in Marzipan which is a great almond honey scent.
Of course, I could not resist MSC’s cold process soaps. MSC’s soaps are all vegan (i.e. no goat’s milk or honey) but they are still very rich from shea butter and cocoa butter. My favorite, hands-down, was the Cold Process Soap in Coconut Pear. It is very fresh yet rich at the same time. I also tried the soap in Frosted Pink Cupcakes — it’s a much mellower scent in the soap than in the scrub.
One note about MSC — the etsy store does not show her entire soap stock, plus she is willing to do custom order. It is always best to send her an etsy convo (aka an email through the etsy system) if you want something in particular or are interested in some of the soaps scents I have discussed, but don’t see them available.
