So as you remember, earlier this week, I tried a very DIY remedy for my dehydrate cranky skin. The yogurt/honey/sugar combo worked so well that I experimented some more. Monday night I washed my face with yogurt after using my cleanser, and did that every night this week. My dryness is noticeably better.
I also happened to be at Kalustyans in Murray Hill this week as well — in between all my spice shopping, I noticed Matcha Green Tea powder — at seven bucks for a couple of ounces it was cheaper than any green tea skincare product I could think of. I got home, googled green tea mask, and found a green tea masque recipe for dehydrated skin. It called for 2 teaspoons match green tea powder, 1 teaspoon water and 1 teaspoon honey. It made a lot of green Shrek-like goo, but after ten minutes of waiting and washing off with warm water, my skin felt noticeably deep-cleansed, yet almost not red at all.
I tried it again tonight with 1 teaspoon matcha, 1 teaspoon honey and a splash of yogurt and got even better results. So the verdict is that DIY beauty need not be a lot of work and can bring great results fast.
