Even though the last few days have been the very worst heat of August, today it started raining here in Brooklyn, and not in a moonsoon-warm-rain type of way. It was cool. I could turn off the AC and open the windows. For just a couple of hours it felt like fall. A preview so to speak.
I immediately pulled out this cardigan (pictured to the left). I bought it on Friday at the Gap and did not think I would have a chance to wear it until next month. And it is so soft and comfy, I have to tell you about it.
I rarely go to the Gap — which is odd considering I get most of my clothes on sale at Banana Republic and often get inexpensive staples at Old Navy. BUT Corporette off-handedly mentioned two magic words in this post: shawl cardigan. I love my Tranquilit cardi-shawl. It has been a faithful companion on many, many Amtrak rides between New York and Washington.
So, of course, I had to investigate what this new Gap item was. Turns out it’s actually a wrap cardigan, super-soft. The color in the picture is the one I bought. It’s more mauvey-gray than brown, which suits my wardrobe of lots and lots of black (with a touch of gray) very well. It’s cozy and comfy and just wonderful to relax in, under a blanket, with lots of books. Which, by the way, is one of the ways I deal with stress — books, cozy clothes, a fleece blanket.
After weeks and weeks of too-hot weather, it was lovely to get a taste of fall early, especially wrapped in this cozy cardigan.
