My tour of different Lake Champlain Hot Chocolates continues. So far I have tried the Old World Hot Chocolate (which is actually yummy chocolate shavings) and the Traditional Hot Chocolate, which is a nice chocolatey rich but basic hot chocolate. The next one I tried was the New World Drinking Chocolate, which I was convinced I would love since it is 70% cocoa and I love love love dark chocolate. This one did not disappoint either. It’s dark and just a touch acidic and very rich. The description says that it reminds people of Spanish hot chocolate – having never been to Spain, I can’t vouch for that, but it makes sense. It is much less sweet than the Old World Hot Chocolate, which is what you would expect at a French or Italian café.
I will say one thing – if you don’t like dark chocolate you may not love the New World Hot Chocolate…. unless you add some marshmallows. The second time I tried it I decided to add marshmallows – and I swear they tasted sweeter than they normally do. And, while the hot chocolate was still very dark, it had an added sweetness that was really lovely.

Eeek! I was hoping to avoid sweets after having indulged this past holiday but alas, I can’t resist a chocolate recommendation. : )
That sounds so delicious – dark chocolate is my fave kind too, and the hot chocolate I had in Madrid many years ago was easily the best I’ve ever had. Must get my hands on this!
