Beauty Monday is a weekly feature focusing on green beauty, paraben-free skincare and the beauty industry and marketing.
Finding a good paraben-free mascara is not easy – some, especially the olive oil based ones, just slide right off. I was pleased with the Tarte all natural mascara, but still missed the effect that I used to get from L’Oreal Voluminous or Clinique High Impact Mascara – both somehow seem to build up lash volume without seeming ridiculous. The Tarte is nice but more lengthening than anything else. Therefore, when Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara came out, I tried it since I like the brand, but without really hoping for the volume that I usually prefer in mascara. So I was really pleasantly suprised that the Organic Wear mascara gives almost the same volumizing effect as my old staples from L’Oreal and Clinique. This may become my new staple and replace the Tarte one. Also, despite wearing well and not smudging, I find the Organic Wear mascara easier to remove than most mascaras, whether the more traditional ones or the paraben free ones. That’s another plus for me! And finally, the Organic Wear is 40% cheaper than the Tarte one. A win-win all around. Picture from Physician’s Formula website.

I am glad you like this, too. I am not going back to the Tarte Lash Hugger. The Organic Wear mascara is super affordable and great quality!
I agree with you about the ease of removal. This comes off very easily at the end of a long day.
perfect timing, I’m off to the drugstore today for some odds and ends and will have to pick this up too!
What are your thoughts on their eyeliners? or other paraben-free liners? I was looking at their 100% organic pencil, but honestly I would much rather have an automatic liner since sharpening pencils is a pain.
Karley — I am really impressed with it!
RTW — their liners are only ok according to reviews I have read, but I have not tried them on myself. Apparently 100% Pure has a great cake liner that is paraben-free. That said, many liners and shadows from regular brands dont have parabens in them, so you might not need to switch away from your own brand.
thanks for the tip! I couldn’t find their 100% organic mascara; maybe next time.
RTW – my CVS sold out of it fast. Hopefully you will find it soon!
