Beauty Monday is a weekly feature focusing on green beauty, paraben-free skincare and the beauty industry and marketing.
It’s no secret I love the Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara.
Apparently, so does everyone else, because it is consistently out of stock at pretty much every drugstore and Target I venture into, and fairly hard to locate online.
So I needed a Plan B for natural mascara. Especially because I throw out my mascara every 4-6 weeks and I had held onto my one tube of Organic Wear Mascara for over 10 weeks. I knew I could go back to the Tarte all natural mascara, but I really wanted a drugstore mascara.
Enter Almay’s Pure Blends Voluminizing Mascara, which is also paraben-free and made up of 97.5% of naturally-sourced ingredients (in comparison the Organic Wear Mascara boasts 100%). The wear of the Almay is similar to the Organic Wear, though I think the Almay makes my lashes a little more coated. It doesn’t run or flake, so that’s good news.
And, most importantly, it’s at every CVS between my office and home AND on drugstore.com.
As for which I would pick between the Almay and the Organic Wear? I think Organic Wear might have a tiny edge, just because I really loved the way my lashes felt when I was using it, but I like Almay almost as much and I love that it’s so much easier to find.

I'm going to have to try this! My eyes get really irritated with regular mascaras – I tend to have better luck with the more natural formulas, but I haven't given the Almay a shot yet! Thanks!
sounds great. i am always on the look out for a great mascara. do you have any idea if they make it in waterproof? if not, can you advise me of a good green waterproof mascara that is out there that won't break the bank?
Glad you like it! Keep meaning to tell you, the beauty editor at Lucky magazine was raving about Kiehl's Marvelous Mineral Mascara in the July issue: http://www.kiehls.com/_us/_en/face/color/marvelous-mineral-mascara.htm. Looks like another good one to try.
