Tonight I got home and decided to embrace September and trying new things by making a smoothie with some leftover kale I had from making this recipe on Sunday. I figured that it would be a beautiful shade of green (kind of like the picture above).
Then I threw some frozen raspberries in along with the ripe apple and kale and smidge of apple juice.
And my bright green smoothie turned an awful shade of brown. That would be why there is no picture of the smoothie shown here.
But I love raspberries, and they really made the smoothie so much less kale and so much more refreshing it was worth it. I think I might try the greens and apple combination with spinach next.

haha this has happened to me before. not with kale, but with green superfood powder added to a fruit/soy smoothie. it turns a lovely greyish brown, but it sure is delish
Ha, ha, ha! Something similar happened to me time time ago, when I was babysiting two kids who looked at my 'healthy smoothy' rather disgusted!
Have a nice day!
this happens to me all the time. i love to add berries to my kale smoothie. it is easy to get over the brownish color because it tastes so good!
Have you tried kale "chips"? They ROCK.
Toss kale with olive oil and salt (or sesame seeds or anything) and slow roast at 225 until the kale is crispy. YUM.
LOL! I'm sure your smoothie, while perhaps less photogenic, was delicious nonetheless. Have you considered adding spirulina powder to your smoothies? I love it in mine, and in my juice as well.
đŸ˜€ that's good stuff. oh well, as long as it tastes good that is all that matters right?!
