Recently, despite being on a no-dairy diet for months (among other things, see here for the background), I had the worst cheese craving. I had read about The Pangea Vegan Store on several blogs, so figured it was time to test some vegan cheeses again, since the ones available at Whole Foods just did not make me happy. I had eyed the Pangea Vegan Store dairy substitute options many times, but kept putting off ordering from them because shipping is pricy. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that I could actually hop on the metro and go visit their store! Yes, the warehouse has a tiny store that is open on every weekend, except holidays, from 11 to 6pm, and is just outside of Washington, DC in Rockville, MD, right by a red line metro stop. The staff is super-friendly, though for cold items (which is most dairy substitutes) I recommend bringing a list. There is no cold case in the store itself – instead, you let the people working there know what items you are interested in, and they retrieve them from the warehouse itself.
The store itself has a lot of their selection, including shirts, baked goods, dry goods (including nutritional list and various mixes), nutritional supplements and toiletries. It is kind of amazing how much is crammed into this little store, and the staff working there is super-friendly. I bought Daiya cheese and a couple of other items, and am going to compare them in upcoming reviews.
If you live in the Washington, DC area and need some specific items, this is definitely worth the trip. And if you do not live around here, there are many shipping options.

I look forward to your report on the products. I often find vegan cheese to be too rubbery in texture.
