Japanese Street Festival in Washington, DC

I love street festivals, and one of my favorites is the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival, which coincides with cherry blossom season in Washington, DC.  This year was the 50th such festival, and there were many people out and about today:

The festival stretched several blocks. We walked around and saw several of the stalls.

Lots of mochi and pocky:

The bookstore sponsoring this stall was actually a bookstore I loved going to when I lived in New York:

We also saw several demonstrations and performances:

Now I know that I have to visit Washington at this time of year. I am a lover of all things Japanese (and it is one of my fav countries to travel too). Will keep an eye out for this festival in the next couple of years and I hope to get my ticket and come and visit…. perfect!
