Happy Friday. So glad you enjoyed the Adopt A Gluten-Free Blogger post and the at-home sushi post. Tonight I unpacked my giveaway goodies from IHerb – I feel so lucky! I entered this giveaway over at Gluten Free Easily at the total eleventh hour and won. I so rarely win giveaways, and never when I enter like an hour before the deadline. So yay. I had ordered from IHerb before this giveaway and had been super impressed with the fast shipping, good prices and great product selection. For my giveaway goodies, I picked combination of staples, products I had been wanting to try, and a couple of splurges.
Navitas Pomegranate Power – this was a total splurge. I would not have bought this for myself so it was exciting to add it to my order. I plan to use it in smoothies and to make the Fudgie Pomegranate Power from Dairy Free and Fit
Navitas Palm Sugar – it is a bit of a mystery whether this is coconut sugar or palm sugar based on the description. I have the Coconut Secret Coconut Crystals (which is definitely coconut sugar) so I am excited to see how the Navitas Palm Sugar compares. Whether it is palm or coconut sugar does not matter – both are low-glycemic (more information here). This will be so nice to have on hand when agave has too prominent a flavor to substitute for sugar in a recipe.
Navitas Mesquite Power – I also plan to use this as an alternative sweetener.
Nutiva Organic Shelled Hemp Seed – I have never cooked with hemp seeds before and wanted to try making both Gena’s Lucky Hemp Bread and Averie’s Cheezy Hemp Dip.
Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Rolled Oats – A total staple for me. I use oats in vegan overnight oats or ground up into flour in recipes (like my Salty Almond Chocolate Oatmeal Bars)
Bob’s Red Mill Coconut Flour– Another splurge for me – I will be making Ricki’s Grain-Free Coconut Flour Biscuits in the next few days.
Thank you IHerb and Shirley of Gluten Free Easily!

Congrats on winning the giveaway and thanks so much for this wonderful blog post mentioning iHerb and the products you won.
Hi Valerie–Oooh, you picked out some great items from iHerb! I'm like you when I get freebies, I'm more likely to try some new more expensive items. Now I wish I'd gotten some pomegranate power and mesquite power … next iHerb order I think.
I use the hemp seed in smoothies all the time. I do love recipes made with it, like my friends hemp seed crusted salmon cakes, but my friend, Kelly (Spunky Coconut), told me that you lose the benefits of the omegas when you cook it. Bummer.
Congrats again on winning! You're definitely a testament to entering at the last minute. The random number generator is just that … random. đŸ˜‰
Hugs,
Shirley
