I made an important discovery this weekend. Cafe Green‘s gnocchi are gluten-free. I love love love gnocchi, so I have no idea why it had not occurred to me to ask before, especially considering Cafe Green, which serves a completely vegan menu, is very gluten-free- and allergy-friendly. This weekend the manager, Jimmy, walked me through the entire menu, and it turns out about 80% of the menu items are either naturally gluten-free (gnocchi, massaman curry, ratatouille, paella) or can be made gluten-free (i.e.request gluten-free bread for the veggie burger, which is naturally gluten-free and made from scratch). As for the gnocchi – they are lovely pillowy goodness smothered in a very spicy tomato sauce, bursting with freshness. I highly recommend this dish. The gnocchi are topped with Daiya, which I happen to like, but the dish would be just as delicious without the Daiya. Cafe Green’s menu is seasonal and changes accordingly, so be sure to confirm an item’s gluten-free status. If you are curious about Cafe Green, see this post, and also this post focusing on brunch. And finally, please check out the City|Life|Eats Facebook page.
