Happy Saturday! It’s a good thing I posted a July recap last week, considering that, as predicted, I am looking up and it is August 11th. I was actually in Kansas City this whole past week for work, and had initially planned to pack my netbook as well as my Ipad so as to blog, but when I looked at my schedule more closely (which, in addition to giving four presentations in as many days, involved attending other presentations and meetings) I ended up deciding against it and catching up with all of you when I got back. As it was, my shoulder almost fell off from how heavy my carry-on bag was, because of stuffing it full to avoid my checked bag passing the 50 pound limit (this whole working out while travelling thing means three outfits a day – gym clothes, suit, and then casual clothes for evening socializing – tips appreciated!).
In addition to a productive week at work, I also got to meet the lovely Johnna of Johnna’s Beyond 52 (as well as her other blogs, 52 Sweets, 52 Donuts, and 52 Foods on a Stick) and eat several meals from Café Gratitude Kansas City, so my week away, while tiring in its intensity, did have some fun too.
I will catch you up on Kansas City but tonight, though, I am a bit sleepy, so let’s talk chocolate or, specifically, caramel chocolate. Long-time readers of this blog, prior to when I switched to a gluten-free vegan diet, may remember my fondness for soft caramel. It’s been three plus years, but the Amore di Mona Caramella is just as lovely in texture and flavor as the more conventional caramels I remember. Made with Madhava agave, these chocolates are free of gluten, soy, dairy and nuts. I think they are just appearing in various Whole Foods, but very much worth checking out. I got to enjoy some with my friend Gena tonight as we caught up on our summers, first over salads at sweetgreen, and then with caramel chocolate.

I can give you tips on packing light WHILE working out on the road, of course :). Perhaps in exchange for chocolate.
The real key is minimizing how much you pack overall. Get everything in small sample-size containers, only bring one pair of neutral dress shoes, and pack 2 skirts with coordinating tops (I wear skirts several times before washing, 2 gives you plenty of variety for a week if you mix up your tops).
Aw, so glad you got to meet Johnna! She’s a sweetheart AND a hoot! I get to see her again Saturday. So excited!
I miss you
So great to spend time with you in KC!
Allergy-free Chocolate + Mona Lisa = 😀
